About this activity

You do not need to go deep to see something worth seeing. Trincomalee's shallow reefs have hawksbill turtles, parrotfish, and reef sharks. Our guided tour takes you to the best spots with a local marine naturalist. No experience needed.

Can non-swimmers join the snorkel tour?

Yes, with a life jacket. We carry life jackets on the boat and anyone who needs one is welcome to use it. The sites we snorkel are shallow, clear, and not in open ocean. You'll be fine.

What will we see snorkelling in Trincomalee?

A lot, actually. The shallow reefs at sites like Coral Garden and Pigeon Island have good coral coverage and plenty of fish. Turtles come up to breathe near the surface, so you've got a decent chance of a close encounter. It's nowhere near as limited as snorkelling from a beach. We go to the good spots.

How long is the snorkel tour?

About two hours in total: one site, sometimes two if conditions allow. We factor in boat travel, time in the water, and a relaxed pace. Good option for an afternoon when the divers have already had their dives.
